Abstract:

In the era of climate change and limited resources, the traditional model of a linear economy — “take, use, throw away” — is becoming increasingly unsustainable. In its place, the circular economy, based on the principles of resource efficiency, reuse and waste minimization, is being imposed. While this model is already widely used in business and industry, its importance in public administration 42 is only just being realized. Administrative activity, as a key element of state and municipal governance, has an essential role in achieving a balance between efficiency, transparency and environmental responsibility. The presented article examines the application of the circular economy in the administration in Bulgaria, good European practices, as well as legislative initiatives in this context. The purpose of the study is to examine the application of circular economy principles in administrative activities in Bulgaria and their importance for sustainable development, efficiency and environmental responsibility of the public sector.
