Abstract:

In this paper the economic potential of tourism by ships has been presented as one of the vehicles by which coastal states can achieve sustainable development. It reviews the principal catalysts for this particular area of the economy such as a growing demand for ocean products, technological advancement, and increased integration of sustainable development goals. This narrative speaks to some of the challenges that need to be met by coastal nations to harness this economic opportunity. It also identifies the multiple benefits to be had from maritime tourism, including job creation, income generation, and conservation of the environment. The study concludes by reflecting on the future of this fast-growing sector and how it could be influenced by innovation and more sustainable maritime practices, thus offering a range of insights for public and private sectors in the fields of tourism and maritime activities.
